Advocate's approach to excellence in physical therapy
Advocate Health Care employs experienced, compassionate physical therapists who work closely with patients, families, and primary care physicians to establish individual goals and create treatment plans that achieve them. To improve and speed results, therapists also educate and involve patients and caregivers in home treatment plans.
Advancing care
Many of our Advocate therapists are certified as pediatric clinical specialists by the American Physical Therapy Association and have training in pediatric neurodevelopmental treatment.
Our work helps children become as independently mobile as possible, from the earliest stages of rolling over and sitting up to learning to use a walker, wheelchair, or prosthetic device. Our expertise includes:
-
Therapies for cerebral palsy, spina bifida, Down syndrome, gait abnormalities, traumatic brain injury, seizure disorder, prematurity, brachial plexus injuries, torticollis, and plagiocephaly
-
Pre- and post-operative care and exercise
-
Serial casting, for greater joint mobility
-
Neuromuscular and threshold electrical stimulation
-
Kinesiotaping for muscular imbalances
Supporting you
We provide physical therapy services on an inpatient and outpatient basis and at multiple sites, including Advocate hospitals and rehabilitation centers. We work closely with patients before and after surgery to successfully adapt to prosthetics or orthotics.
