Advocate South Suburban Hospital to host free discussion on breast health
Advocate South Suburban Hospital is dedicated to making a difference in women's lives.On Thursday, October 29, the hospital is offering women the chance to learn about breast cancer during an evening lecture.Radiologist Marcy McIntosh, M.D., will speak about breast cancer detection and treatment during the event.
Dr. McIntosh will discuss the importance of early detection, including an annual clinical breast exam, monthly self-examination and mammograms.The program will also cover the latest advances and procedures in breast cancer prevention, detection, and treatment.
Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the hospital's Breast Health Center and meet the breast health team.The Breast Health Center features advanced technology for detecting and treating breast cancer, including digital mammography. "Digital mammography is the newest and most important advance in the accuracy of mammography, especially of dense breasts, since the introduction of the first dedicated mammography machine nearly 40 years ago," said Dr. McIntosh."Staying at the forefront in the battle against breast cancer is important. This exciting new modality provides the opportunity to detect breast cancer at its earliest possible stage."
