Advocate South Suburban Hospitals Cancer Committee brings patients a team approach to treatment
We follow our patients from their initial onset and diagnosis, and continue by providing ongoing care such as: Diagnostic Procedures, Surgery, Chemotherapy (both inpatient and outpatient) and Radiation therapy that is provided by the Cancer Treatment Center located on our campus. Our high quality nursing staff has ongoing education and competency requirements.
We partner and/or host educational and support programs both on site and within our community at large. We have developed formalized partnerships with cancer organizations to enhance and better serve our patients, their families and caregivers. Our dedicated physicians and affiliated and/or satellite facilities offer state-of-the-art care in a convenient community setting.
The healing mission includes the psychosocial and spiritual needs of the patient and this philosophy is incorporated into education and a commitment to patient survivorship. We have formalized associations with support organizations in the community. These initiatives will better serve our patients and families; and extend our caring framework beyond our hospital campus.
The cancer registry provides data to assist in identifying needs within our cancer service line. The staff also oversees life-long annual follow up, for the purpose of gathering survival data, on all patients that received first course of treatment for their disease at our facility.
We are proud of the fact that the cancer program at Advocate South Suburban Hospital is nationally accredited with commendation through the Commission on Cancer. Additionally, the Cancer Committee serves as the “core” for assessing and delivering quality cancer care to our patients.
