At Advocate South Suburban Hospital, volunteers are a vital part of our health care team. Each year, more than 150 volunteers contribute more than 30,000 hours of service to the hospital. Their selfless dedication of time and talent makes a significant contribution to the quality of care provided to patients and guests alike.
Our Volunteers Serve Our Mission
When you choose to volunteer at Advocate South Suburban Hospital, your service becomes an important part of our mission: providing compassionate, quality care to all who walk through our doors. In fact, the 30,000 hours of service donated by volunteers in 2009 equaled the services of 14 full-time employees.
Driven by a dedication to the Advocate South Suburban Hospital mission, values and philosophy, our volunteers assist patients, loved ones and staff in more than 40 different areas throughout the hospital. Opportunities include:
-
Offering compassionate concern to patients and their loved ones in the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Surgery Waiting Room and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit
-
Providing cheerful service to our patients by delivering flowers, mail and newspapers
-
Assisting with our community activities such as health screenings and blood drives
-
Providing information desk services to visitors and clerical support to our staff
