FAQs for SUPPLEMENTAL STAFFING

Can I work for ProSource as well as another Advocate location?

Most RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and certain Allied Health associates are eligible to work through ProSource while being employed at their primary Advocate cost center. Overtime restrictions may apply. ProSource cannot place you at your home cost center, (including registry staff).

What are your operating hours?

ProSource is the 24 hours a day, 7 days a week supplemental staffing agency exclusively for Advocate Health Care facilities. Staffing coordinators are easily available to assist you with your schedule needs and questions.

How does the staffing process work?

Since there are no minimum required hours to satisfy, you have the freedom to call or email your availability to ProSource. Your availability is then put into our automated scheduling system and communicated to the Advocate facilities of your choice as well as matched to site staffing needs. Confirmed shifts are communicated back to ProSource and a ProSource coordinator reconfirms your schedule with you directly. Any staffing changes are made through ProSource. You will never be double scheduled or "blind booked," which is a common practice among many agencies.

What is your hiring process?

Advocate has a thorough hiring process as we look to hire the most qualified health care professionals. After a short pre-screen, you will be mailed an application packet and scheduled for an interview. Mandatory pre-employment qualifiers must be met prior to hiring, such as a criminal background check, full physical including drug screen and immunization requirements, and certification or licensing validation. Proof of current CPR, ACLS, NRP, and PALS certification as applicable is also required. One year of experience in your area of specialty is also required.

Is there enough work?

ProSource cannot guarantee hours of placement due to the fluctuating nature of staffing needs within the system. Placement is based on need. To enhance your staffing possibilities, keep in mind that the more flexible you are with availability, unit experience, shift preference, and site accessibility the greater our ability to place you becomes.

Are cancellations frequent?

Standard cancellations are based on site census and determined at the site level with a minimum two-hour cancellation prior to your shift start time. (If you are cancelled after the minimum cut-off time, you are compensated two hours for time and travel.) A ProSource coordinator will contact you if you are cancelled. Keep in mind that if you are not going to be home at the time of cancellation you must contact ProSource to ensure your shift is still on. As an Advocate associate, ProSource staff are preferred over outside vendor agency staff. Therefore every attempt is made to cancel outside agency personnel prior to ProSource staff cancellations. Another ProSource advantage!

How much do I have to work?

ProSource does not have a minimum shift requirement, but if you are inactive for six months or more the system will require termination due to inactivity.

Can I transfer to a regular position?

Yes. Once you have been with ProSource for a minimum of six months from your hire date you may transfer or cross-employ within the Advocate system to other positions if you have the qualifications required. You must contact your ProSource supervisor to inform the department of your intentions to transfer and perform the online internal transfer application found on www.advocatehealth.com.
