eICU® Care

Implementation of eICU® Care at Advocate means:
- The introduction of cutting-edge technology for around-the-clock, simultaneous, real-time audio and video monitoring of intensive care unit (ICU) patients at our hospitals - all from one command center - which serves as a supplement to regular visits from a patient's physician.
- Technology that advances the already high quality of care Advocate hospitals provide in their ICUs, which can significantly reduce complications, decrease length of a patient's stay in the ICU and hospital resulting in a reduction of overall costs.
- Board-certified critical care specialists and trained ICU nurses provide continuous monitoring that enables physicians to tailor patient care in the ICU 24 hours a day.
- Advocate is the first hospital system in the Midwest to implement eICU technology and has the largest eICU program in the country.

- 17 adult ICUs
- 212 adult ICU beds
- 66 board-certified adult critical care specialists
- 3.8 days is average length of stay
- 15,400 ICU admissions a year
- Advocate's per-patient cost per ICU day is $2,028 compared to national ICU averages of $2,500 per day.

- Advocate Health Care is one of just five hospital systems around the country to introduce the high-tech eICU technology.
- Advocate's eICU Care program has 142 adult ICU beds online in seven of its eight acute-care hospitals:
