Slide Boards Technically known as Lateral Motion Trainers, slide boards consist of a sheet of flexible or rigid plastic, 6' to 8' long, with angled rubber bumpers bordering each side. Wearing "booties" over your shoes that have a slippery underside, you push off each bumper, gliding side to side like a speed skater. This is a low-impact aerobic activity that can feel very strenuous at first, but provides a good quality workout. It is also excellent for many types of knee problems. Types: Many slide boards consist of a plastic sheet about the thickness of a window shade. Others have gone to a thicker, more rigid plastic that truly resembles a board. The length will vary from 6 to 8 feet, depending on your size. Higher quality boards will allow you to adjust the length to best fit your size and style. Price: $50 to $100 Back to Purchasing Home Exercise Equipment |
