New Year's Fitness Resolutions
I will not "rest" on the handrails when working on equipment like stair climbers and treadmills.
I will work at an intensity that achieves results. I will find out what my target HR range is and check to see if I am actually at that level.
I will spend less time on abdominal machines, lower back machines and thigh machines. I will replace these with more effective exercises and concentrate more on losing body fat.
I will not waste money on useless nutritional supplements, but will concentrate on eating a well-balanced diet.
I will critically evaluate new pieces of exercise equipment and new claims about exercise techniques or supplements.
I will consider all infomercial products guilty until proven innocent.
I will not mistakenly think that the amount of sweating I do has any relationship to the quality of my workout.
I will not use rubber suits, sweatshirts, sweat pants, belts, etc., as a means of weight loss.
I will concentrate on form during strength training.
I will slow down my speed and make sure that I am not using swinging momentum to lift the weight.
I will not use other body parts or muscle groups as leverage just to be able to lift heavier weights.
I will finally give up the idea that certain types or intensities of exercise burn more body fat than other kinds.
I will realize that the loss (or gain) of stored body fat depends primarily on the long-term balance between calories consumed and calories expended.
Keep Working and Smiling All Year!
