Stressbusters: 5 Steps to Stress Relief
Stress often seems like a force beyond our control or even our influence. And although some stress is normal, constant unrelieved stress can eventually damage both physical and emotional health. Here are some simple stressbusting measures:
- Make exercise a regular part of your routine. Even if it's just a walk around the block, exercise can reduce stress as well as give your energy level a boost.
- Be sure to get enough sleep so you feel rested and can function properly. Try to head to bed extra early if you constantly feel irritable and tired.
- Find time for yourselftime to be alone with your thoughts and time for social or recreational activities that you enjoy.
- Limit alcohol and caffeine consumption, since both of these substances tend to disrupt your sleep. And remember, caffeine is found in chocolate and many sodas.
- Finally, use the power of imagination, meditation or prayer to think positively and tap into your inner calm.
