Advocate’s cardiovascular/stroke screening can help determine your risk for the problems noted below. Screening results are read by a qualified physician who will let you know your potential risks for peripheral vascular disease or stroke, even if you have no symptoms. - Problem: High LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels
High levels increase the risk for cardiovascular disease.
Screening: A simple, fasting finger-stick blood test measures these and other important indicators of cardiac health.
- Problem: Carotid artery blockages
The carotid arteries carry blood to the brain. Many strokes are caused by blockages and blood clots in these arteries.
Screening: A Doppler ultrasound at the neck measures blood flow in the carotid arteries.
- Problem: Atrial fibrillation
