Campus security The public safety department is responsible for protecting patients, visitors, students and staff in the various hospital buildings, grounds and satellite facilities making up the Medical Center Campus. The basic responsibilities of the public safety department are:
The public safety department utilizes quality management techniques to gather data to form trends and patterns of security problems and issues. This information is used to prevent or abate these situations from reoccurrence. The department performs investigations of incidents or conditions as needed and maintains records of daily security activities and incidents. Security and safety is established and maintained through 24-hour patrol of the campus, video camera surveillance, alarms, locks, required associate identification, key card access to locations/areas where necessary and security escort as needed. The department maintains crime statistics, and an annual report is published and distributed to students each October. The department's policies and crime statistics are available for viewing in the public safety department office.
