Curriculum Overview

Overview
The curriculum is based on two years of full-time study that does not exceed 40 hours per week. The curriculum is divided into classroom (didactic) study, laboratory and clinical instruction, and application (assignments in hospitals and clinics).

Current program affiliates include:

Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center (Chicago)
Advocate Health Center - Irving and Western (Chicago)
Advocate Lutheran General Hospital (Park Ridge)
Advocate Medical Group (Park Ridge)
Advocate Dreyer Medical Clinics (Aurora)

Curricular Content
Curriculum content is developed from the American Society of Radiologic Technology's (ASRT) most recently published professional curriculum guide in radiography.

Hours
Students enroll on a full-time basis participating in classroom, laboratory and clinical courses that may require attendance up to, but no more than, 40 hours per week. Classes are scheduled through the entire year.

Classroom courses are scheduled Monday through Friday and may begin as early as 7:00 am (7:00 am-3:30 pm) and extend to as late as 4:30 pm (8:00 am-4:30 pm).

Clinical assignments are scheduled on weekdays (Monday through Friday). Second-year assignments may include a limited number of weekend and night rotations. Students are assigned to medical centers, hospitals and clinics. Most assignments fall between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. A few assignments may start as early as 6:30 a.m., and other assignments may extend to early evening hours (7:00 p.m.) (i.e., some rotations at clinics).

Clinical and classroom schedules are posted and distributed at the start of each term. For each required course of instruction, students receive classroom and clinical course syllabi that identify clinical assignment/classroom meeting dates, times and locations.

Students do not attend classes and clinical assignments on New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents' Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
