
Academic Affiliation
Advocate Health Care and the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Medicine, the largest medical school in the nation, have a long-term academic relationship. This brings Advocate together with a national medical research and clinical teaching center that emphasizes primary care.
The UIC College of Medicine graduates about 300 physicians a year, and 50 percent choose a residency in primary care. The 363-acre medical campus located on Chicago’s West Side includes not only a College of Medicine but also colleges of dentistry, nursing, pharmacy and allied health professions and a school of public health. The UIC College of Medicine has about 500 salaried and 1,300 volunteer faculty members. It also has the largest group of living alumni in the nation, totaling 14,000.
