Internal Medicine Residency Application Page

1. How do I apply to the program?
As are most internal medicine residency programs, we will be participating in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) . We will not be accepting any paper applications. Please refer to the instructions you received through your medical school regarding ERAS.

2. What materials do you require?
We consider your application to be complete when we receive:

Medical school transcript
Dean’s letter
Three letters of recommendations (not including Dean’s letter)
USMLE scores*
Photo (optional)

*Please remember to request that the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) release your scores to our program.

We may, however, begin processing your application before we have received all your materials.

3. Do you have a minimum score for the USMLE that you accept?
No. We consider all applications on an individual basis.

4. Is there anything else that may be of interest to you?
Yes. If you have done a rotation at Christ Medical Center, or are acquainted with anyone in the program, please let us know.

5. Do you have a deadline by which the materials must be submitted?
We do not have an official deadline, but please send your materials as soon as possible.

6. When do you hold interviews?
Generally interviews are held between late October and late January.

7. Do you consider International Medical Graduates (IMGs)?
Yes. IMGs must submit the following materials in addition to those listed above:

Current visa
License
MBBS marks or other certifying exams
USMLE performance profiles
Documentation of four weeks or 160 hours of psychiatry training
Type of visa anticipated for training

Please note: We cannot accept applicants who do not have documentation of psychiatry training and/or who require an H-1 visa for training.

8. Do you sponsor any visas?
The University of Illinois, our sponsoring institution, will sponsor only the J-1 visa.

9. Do you require any clinical experience?
None is required, but if you have had any, please indicate it on your application.

10. Do you have a minimum requirement for year of graduation from medical school?
No. We consider all applications on an individual basis.
