Mission Statement
Residents are trained to be excellent general internists, able to care
for patients with complex problems in a compassionate and professional
manner. Residents learn in a medical center with a mission to restore
patients health and improve quality of life through a wholistic
philosophy, embracing the values of compassion, equality, excellence,
partnership and stewardship. A balanced mix of general medicine and
subspecialty teaching not only prepares one well for the practice of
primary care, but also provides a strong preparation for fellowship.
Residents are taught internal medicine in a humane and civilized
setting which stresses dedication to patients, scholarship, thoughtful
and cost-effective clinical practice, and respect for colleagues and all
members of the hospital community. We believe that medical education is
most effective in a nurturing environment which is sensitive and
responsive to the needs of our residents.
