
Conferences and other Educational Activities
The following is a list of conferences and other educational activities offered through the residency program at Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate Hope Children's Hospital:
Educational Conferences:
- Morning Report (daily on the wards and in the nursery)
- Attending Rounds (daily on the wards, the normal nursery, the NICU, and the PICU)
- Thursday Lecture Block (3 hours of educational sessions, 10am-1pm; protected time for the residents each week)
- Other noon conferences, 1-2 times per week
- Chief Rounds (weekly departmental CPC format case-presentations)
- Journal Club (monthly; part of EBM curriculum)
- Grand Rounds (monthly 3 hour sessions)
- Tumor Board (monthly)
- Healthy Steps (monthly case-based interactive sessions)
- Board Reviews and "Pediatric Jeopardy" (ongoing throughout the year)
Other Educational Activities:
- Procedure labs, SimBaby/SimMan (suturing, central lines, chest tubes and intubations)
- BLS, PALS, and Neonatal Resuscitation
- Mock codes
- EBM curriculum (case-based ACQ format, development of critically appraised topic)
- Practice Management and Employment seminars
- Financial Planning seminars
- Health Care Systems lectures
- Complimentary membership in the American Academy of Pediatrics
- American Board of Pediatrics In-Training Exam (annually)
- Cultural Competency curriculum
