Obstetrics
Deborah A. Boyle, M.D., Director

The division of obstetrics at Illinois Masonic serves as one of Chicago's largest and premier maternity services. The Ruth M. Seay Center for Women and Infants provides a comfortable and modern setting for total prenatal care based on a family oriented experience, yet can provide comprehensive care for complicated pregnancies. The broad scope of our program is exemplified by the tradition of our Alternative Birthing Center and one of the first hospital-based Midwifery Programs in the Midwest. At the other end of the spectrum, Illinois Masonic has been designated as a Level III Perinatal Center, providing the highest level of maternity and newborn care available. Residents rotate at all levels of their residency, gaining graduated experience with obstetrics. Outpatient obstetrical experience is gained through the resident continuity clinic, located at the new Wilton Medical Office Center. This is carried through to the inpatient setting, including extensive experience in surgical obstetrics, vaginal delivery, multiple gestations, as well as the medical management of complicated pregnancies. During the 4th year, the Chief resident not only directs the resident Ob service, but also serves as the primary consultant for both the midwife and family medicine patients.
