Preliminary Program

The main emphasis for the resident in the preliminary tract is abroad experience in general surgery, although residents will usually have the opportunity to rotate through one or two of the surgical specialties. Trainees in the preliminary program will complete rotations in general surgery and its subspecialties at all of the MGH hospitals. Rotations are of one or two months duration.
