Conferences
Teaching conferences at Advocate Lutheran General Children’s Hospital are designed to comprehensively cover all the important topics in pediatrics over the three years of residency training.
Morning Report: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8:15 to 9 AM
This conference focuses on problem-oriented approach to various inpatient and outpatient cases. A resident presents a recent case from either the outpatient clinic or inpatient ward and then a discussion is facilitated by a faculty member or the chief resident. The facilitator leads an interactive discussion which includes the differential diagnosis, evaluation and management of the particular case patient. An evidence-based discussion of the diagnosis is presented briefly at the end of each session.
Noon Conference: Tuesday through Friday, noon to 1 PM
Pediatric noon conferences are didactic lectures covering general pediatric and subspecialty pediatric topics. These conferences are also available for viewing via the intranet website. Approximately twice a month, the noon lecture is given by a resident on a general pediatric topic of his/her choice.
Grand Rounds: Tuesdays, 9 to 10 AM
Grand Rounds provides the most up-to-date information on a wide variety of pediatric topics and is directed to an audience of both community practitioners as well as hospital staff. These conferences are given by faculty at ALGCH as well as local and national speakers.

Faculty member from each of the involved pediatric disciplines (e.g., radiology, pathology, infectious disease, surgery) discuss various aspects of the case and review evidence-based data on the particular topic.
