Advocate Lutheran General Hospital Pharmacy Practice Residency

Welcome to the Advocate Lutheran General Hospital - Pharmacy Practice Residency page! At Advocate Lutheran General we are proud to have been part of pharmacy residency training since 1978. We have helped to develop excellent pharmacy clinicians, educators, managers, and researchers that practice across the country.

Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge, Illinois, is a 609-bed teaching, research and tertiary care hospital, Level I trauma center, and one of the largest hospitals in the Chicago area. It also is home to Advocate Lutheran General Children's Hospital, one of the most comprehensive providers of pediatric care in the state. Oak Brook-based Advocate Health Care, the largest health care provider in Illinois, has ranked among the nation's top 10 health care systems for seven consecutive years. Advocate's 200+ sites of care in metropolitan Chicago include eight acute care hospitals and two children's hospitals, a home health care company and three of Chicago's largest medical groups.

Lutheran General is the only hospital in the greater north and northwest suburban region of Chicago that has been repeatedly selected as one of the nation's best hospitals and one of the top 15 major teaching institutions in the country. In addition, Lutheran General is rated among the top 50 hospitals in the U.S. for its medical excellence and advanced treatment capabilities in digestive disorders, cancer care, cardiovascular services, orthopedics, neurology and neurosurgery, geriatrics and other specialties. The medical staff includes 1,000 physicians, many of whom have distinguished themselves throughout Chicagoland and the nation as clinicians, teachers and leaders in the health care industry.

The Advocate Lutheran General Department of Pharmacy has a long history of innovation in pharmacy services. A combination of clinical services and automation allow us to provide the best care for our patients. With a staff of 80, we are continually seeking new ways for our pharmacists to improve patient care. We encourage our residents, both as they are with us and as they move on, to continue to provide innovative solutions for providing better care for patients.

Our ASHP-accredited residency program allows flexibility and diversity in an innovative setting that always strives to be the best. The combination of a large health system with a community and teaching setting provides an excellent environment for learning. If you want to be part of providing some of the best services and learning from some of the best preceptors in Chicago, consider a Advocate Lutheran General Hospital pharmacy practice residency!

Thank you for your interest in our program. I am confident that you will not be disappointed in your training if you choose the residency program at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.
