Sleep Diary

To better understand your child's sleeping and waking patterns, fill out the Sleep Diary below, and bring it with you on your next visit with your pediatric clinician. You and your doctor may then be able to target one or two issues to work on to help your baby get to sleep or help your baby sleep through the night.

Top ways to help your baby get to sleep

  1. Have a bed time routine that includes a bath, a story, or playing soft music.

  2. Let your baby try to self comfort using fingers or a pacifier.

  3. Talk to your baby using a soft steady voice for a minute or two.

  4. Gently hold your baby's arms together while you talk softly for a short time.

  5. Gently pat or rub your baby's stomach for a short time. Remember to put your baby to sleep on his/her side.
