Advocate Health Care Programs & Services
|
Clinical Trials As a teaching hospital, Advocate Lutheran General Hospital's commitment to providing leading edge technology and outstanding care has earned us numerous accolades over the years. We've been repeatedly recognized for excellence in U.S. News and World Report's annual "America's Best Hospitals" study; repeatedly named one of the nation's 100 Top Hospitals and top 15 major teaching hospitals by Solucient, a health care information company; and rated one of the nation's top cardiovascular hospitals in the Solucient 100 Top Hospitals study. Continual involvement in groundbreaking research plays a vital role in enabling us to offer new and better ways to care for our patients. For example, we were one of first hospitals in the nation to provide the FDA-approved intravascular brachytherapy procedure to cardiac patients to keep their coronary arteries open. We are also one of the few hospitals in the nation that uses the revolutionary off-pump coronary artery bypass procedure on the majority of coronary bypass patients. Research activities at our Cancer Care Center focus on more than 100 clinical trials, including participation in pioneering studies of potential cancer prevention and treatment drugs as well as new treatment techniques in radiation therapy. These research activities, combined with the latest technology and expertise, allow us to provide our patients with alternatives to standard therapies and additional choices for their care. Through clinical trials and research, our Cancer Care Center is committed to providing the latest advancements in the fight against cancer. |
