During the forum, Trinity hosted a voter registration where several associates signed up to vote.
Chicago, IL-- Advocate Trinity Hospital’s 7th Annual Nursing Legislative Forum was held in early October and was a HUGE SUCCESS!
On October 2nd, Trinity nurses sat down with state legislators: Senator Donne Trotter (17th District) , Representative Marcus Evans, Jr. (33rd District) and Representative Elgie Sims (34th District) to ask them important questions affecting their industry and how they care for the health of this community.
Michelle Kroeger asked, “What is the current conversation being had in session about funding our health needs in our area?”
Michelle is the EMS and Emergency Management Coordinator at Trinity Hospital. She was one of 40 associates in attendance at the Nursing Legislative Forum and she lives on Chicago’s southeast side.
“Having an event like this means so much to us here at Trinity. Especially since this year is an election year and there are several items on the ballot that affect healthcare and the community,” said Michelle.
All three legislators took turns answering questions and agreed that healthcare is one of the most important issues on their plates. Representative Marcus Evans, Jr., a former Trinity patient, said it was an event that he was looking forward to attending.
“Discussing healthcare with our frontline nurses is important to me and how I represent this community. I want to hear what our nurses need, what is most important to them and what keeps them up at night,” said Representative Evans, 33rd District.
