Cardiac Catheterization Lab
Available 24 hours a day, the Cardiac Catheterization Lab provides an array of important diagnostic services for individuals suffering from cardiovascular disease. Comprehensive tests performed in the cardiac catheterization lab enable cardiologists to view:
- narrowing (blockages) in the arteries
- overall heart size
- inside chamber size
- pumping ability
- valves opening and closing
The coronary angiogram, for example, makes it possible for physicians to locate clogged arteries and evaluate how well the heart muscles and blood vessels are functioning. During this procedure, dye is released into the coronary arteries from a small tube threaded through the body, allowing detailed pictures to be made of the heart and arteries in motion.
Results from the helical CT scanner and cardiac catheterization testing enable physicians to implement an appropriate, timely, treatment plan. Your cardiologist will discuss the treatment options best suited to your needs based on diagnostic results. Our team is available to answer individual questions.
