DOWNERS GROVE – Community members can become a part of history by signing their name on the final steel beam that will be placed atop the new bed tower at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital. The beam will be available for signing from 11 am to 2 pm Friday, July 24 at the hospital, 3815 Highland Ave. Visitors can park in the Parking A or B lots or Parking D garage. The beam is temporarily located outside the north upper level entrance to the Physician Office Center (just outside the cafeteria).
After it has been signed, a construction crane will raise the final steel beam for the private room bed tower and lock it into place at a ceremony scheduled at 2 pm July 30 at the hospital. Downers Grove village officials, hospital President David S. Fox and other local and hospital officials are scheduled to attend the ceremony, which is open to the public as well.
