Fourteen Advocate Aurora Health hospitals named to U.S. News & World Report ‘Best Hospitals’ list

Downers Grove, IL and Milwaukee, WI – Advocate Aurora Health announced today that 13 of the health system’s adult hospitalswere named to theU.S. News & World ReportBest Hospitals list in addition toAdvocate Children’s Hospital, which was recognized this summer as a top pediatric hospital.

The U.S. News & World Report list recognizes both regional and national excellence. Regionally,Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee retains its spot as the #1 hospital in southeast Wisconsin; Aurora Medical Center in Grafton ranked #3. Five Advocate hospitals ranked among the top 15 in the Chicago metro area – Advocate Christ Medical Center, Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, Advocate Sherman Hospital and Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital. 

On the national front, Advocate Christ and Advocate Lutheran earned awards. Christ ranked 40th in the country in cardiology and heart surgery, while Lutheran earned the No. 37 position in gynecology. Advocate Children’s Hospitalwas recognized with the No. 25 pediatric cardiology and heart surgery program.

Eight hospitals received a Best Regional Hospital recognition and State ranking, including Aurora St. Luke’s, Advocate Christ, Advocate Lutheran, Advocate Good Samaritan, Aurora Grafton, Advocate Sherman, Advocate Good Shepherd and Aurora BayCare Medical Center.

Five additional hospitals received high-performing ratings in specialties or procedures and conditions categories, including Advocate Condell Medical Center, Aurora Medical Center - Oshkosh, Aurora Medical Center in Summit, Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and Aurora West Allis Medical Center.

U.S. News & World Reportmethodology is based on measures of quality such as risk-adjusted outcome rates, volume, quality of nursing and other care-related indicators. Hospitals are eligible for badges depending upon rankings and ratings such as Honor Roll, Ranked Adult Specialty, Best Regional Hospital and Best Specialty Hospital; they receive an accolade if they earn at least one of those rankings or a High Performance rating in any of 16 eligible medical specialties or nine common procedures and conditions.
