Twenty Advocate Aurora Health hospitals named to U.S. News & World Report ‘Best Hospitals’ list

Downers Grove, IL and Milwaukee, WI – Advocate Aurora Health announced today that 19 of the health system’s adult hospitals were named to the U.S. News & World Report ‘Best Hospitals’ list, in addition to Advocate Children’s Hospital, which was recognized as a top pediatric hospital. 

“The last year and a half tested our team members in new and difficult ways, and they met those challenges time and time again, delivering safe, high-quality care for our patients every step of the way,” Advocate Aurora Health President and CEO Jim Skogsbergh said. “That so many of our system’s sites were honored among the highest performing in the nation is a testament to their commitment to our purpose of helping people live well.”

The U.S. News & World Report list recognizes both regional and national achievement. Designated among the Best Regional Hospitals were Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center, Aurora Medical Center - Grafton, Aurora Medical Center - Summit and Aurora BayCare Medical Center, each ranking among the top hospitals in Wisconsin. Eight hospitals ranked among the top 25 in Illinois – Advocate Christ Medical Center, Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Advocate Trinity Hospital, Advocate Condell Medical Center and Advocate South Suburban Hospital. 

p>In addition, Advocate Christ, Advocate Illinois Masonic, and Advocate Lutheran earned national rankings honoring the quality of their adult specialties. Christ ranked 36th in the country in cardiology and heart surgery and 49th in gynecology; Illinois Masonic ranked 48th in gastroenterology and GI surgery; and Lutheran ranked 46th in gastroenterology and GI surgery, 48th in gynecology and 38th in pulmonology. 

 

Advocate Children’s Hospital was recognized with the No. 25 pediatric cardiology and heart surgery program in the nation and ranked third among children’s hospitals in Illinois.

In addition to seven nationally ranked specialties, the system’s hospitals earned 159 high-performing ratings across the adult specialties and common procedures & conditions categories. Advocate Sherman Hospital, Aurora Medical Center - Bay Area, Aurora Medical Center - Kenosha, Aurora Medical Center - Manitowoc County, Aurora Medical Center - Oshkosh, Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center and Aurora West Allis Medical Center earned such accolades. 

U.S. News & World Report evaluated more than 4,554 hospitals nationwide. Their methodology is based on measures of quality such as risk-adjusted outcome rates, volume, quality of nursing and other care-related indicators.
