Hazel Crest, Ill. -- Dr. Jaafer Golzar, a cardiologist with Advocate South Suburban Hospital, was recently awarded the Gopi Devi Khanna award at the Asia Pacific Vascular Conference in New Delhi, India. The award was given in recognition of his excellence in endovascular care in critical limb ischemia.
Dr. Golzar’s commitment to advancing medicine is evident in his extensive clinical research, international medical relief efforts, and participation in physician-training programs. Recognizing the need for advanced education in endovascular medicine, Dr. Golzar founded the Chicago Endovascular Conference in 2010, drawing attendees from around the world. He has also traveled to the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Pakistan and Nigeria to aid disaster relief efforts and collaborate with local physicians and government officials to improve their medical systems.

Dr. Golzar received his medical education at the University of Arkansas College of Medicine and completed post-graduate training in several areas, including internal medicine, cardiology, and coronary and peripheral interventions. He currently serves as an interventional cardiologist and endovascular specialist, specializing in complex limb salvage cases.
The Asia Pacific Vascular Society is an international membership organization committed to research and education in the field of Vascular Diseases and to study the disease pattern in Asia Pacific region and other parts of the world and developing guidelines for their treatment.
