In order to be licensed as a Paramedic, individuals must complete more than 1,000 hours of classroom and clinical training, including supervised experience in an ambulance, patient care experience, and basic and advanced life support protocols.
The Advocate Condell Medical Center Paramedic Education program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP). Graduates of this program will sit for the NREMT cognitive examination to be eligible for state licensure. All applicants must be dual enrolled in the Program as well as the institutional affiliate, the College of Lake County.
The goal of the paramedic course
To prepare Paramedics who are competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the profession. All Paramedic students must pass the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians cognitive exam to qualify for licensure in Illinois.
