S.O.A.R. into Pediatrics Scholarship

S.O.A.R. into Pediatrics is a scholarship program offered by the Advocate Children's Hospital Department of Pediatrics. Multiple $2,500 scholarships are awarded yearly to visiting senior medical students applying to Pediatrics who are taking part in 4-week General Pediatric or Pediatric subspecialty rotations at our institution.

Eligibility

Prospective students must be:

  • In good academic standing
  • Enrolled in their fourth or final year of an MD or DO degree program at a Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or a Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA)-accredited medical school during their elective rotation
  • Able to demonstrate experiences that reflect resilience, adaptability, or other relevant qualities that would enrich our learning environment

Priority consideration will be given to applicants who are first-generation college graduates, first-generation medical professionals, or who have overcome significant socioeconomic barriers in their educational journey.

Selection Process

Scholarship recipients are selected through consideration of the applicant's CV, personal statement, letter(s) of recommendation, transcript, and board scores. Applicants must express strong interest in applying to an Advocate Children's Hospital Pediatrics residency program.

Recipients will be assigned to one of our respective campuses: Oak Lawn or Park Ridge. Attention will be paid to location preference when possible.
