Advocate Health Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Fellowship Program

About the program

A unique fellowship offering, this program provides motivated clinicians with an excellent opportunity for professional growth and clinical variety.

The full-time, paid fellowship runs annually from July to July. The successful candidate will work with a team of dedicated and skilled speech-language pathologists representing all levels of acute care including neurology, cardiology, transplant, oncology, trauma, surgical and medical. Participation in these program experiences is designed to equip the clinical fellow with a strong foundation to become a well-rounded speech-language pathologist.

Working under the direct supervision of speech-language pathologists who hold certificates of clinical competence (CCC), the fellow will be responsible for evaluating and treating patients displaying issues with swallowing, speech, language, cognition and voice, along with those needing alternative means of communication. Additionally, the fellow will receive experience and training in videofluoroscopic swallowing studies (VFSS).

Minimum Requirements, Application Process

Minimum Education Requirement:

  • Completed master’s level course of study from an accredited speech-language pathology program at time of fellowship start date.

Minimum Experience Requirement:

  • Previous clinical experience providing direct patient care in a medical setting.
