About Our Managed Care Residency

The Advocate Health IL & WI Divisions PGY1 Managed Care Pharmacy residency program is within the integrated health care system Advocate Health and occurs primarily within the Enterprise Population Health Pharmacy department. The department performs many functions to optimize health outcomes, including medication therapy management, chronic disease state management, development of utilization management policies and protocols for medical benefit plans, and prior authorization reviews for select medications through pharmacy and medical benefit plans.

The Advocate Health IL & WI Divisions PGY1 Managed Care Pharmacy Residency program provides post-graduate pharmacists with a foundation of experience in a managed care setting, one-on-one training, and engaging opportunities to match each resident’s personal goals and interests. Residents receive the experience and mentoring needed to perform as competent, independent managed care pharmacists in tomorrow’s challenging healthcare environment.

This program is based in Illinois and Wisconsin with a remote-first work format. The program requires the resident to be physically located within the Advocate Health IL & WI Divisions footprint (Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, or Indiana) due to the use of collaborative practice agreements in some learning experiences. Advocate Health’s IL & WI Divisions support multiple other PGY1 and PGY2 residency programs across Illinois and Wisconsin. All pharmacy residents gain real-world perspective and benefit from enterprise-wide resources!
