How to apply

Thank you for your interest

Thank you for your interest in the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center Anesthesiology Residency Program. We're excited to learn more about you and welcome your application!

We will communicate with applicants exclusively through ERAS, and we encourage interested candidates to signal our program if it aligns with their interests.

For the 2026 Match, we are pleased to offer:

  • 6 PGY-1 (categorical) positions
  • 2 PGY-2 (reserved) positions

Virtual Interviews & Open Houses

To promote ease of accessibility, all interviews for the 2026–2027 Match cycle will be 100% virtual. We will not offer in-person "second looks." However, we invite all interviewees to participate in our virtual open houses for additional opportunities to engage with faculty and residents.

Interview Format

  • Day: Saturdays
  • Time: 7:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (CST)
  • The morning begins with an introduction and brief orientation, after which candidates are divided into two groups.
  • Some downtime is expected; during this time, you’ll be placed in a virtual “waiting room” with current residents to encourage candid peer-to-peer conversations.

Virtual Open House (Friday Evening Before Interview)

  • One hour with program leadership to give background about the program, which also shortens your Saturday!
  • One-hour informal hangout with current residents—bring your questions!

Application Signals

We use program signals during our initial review process to identify applicants who have a strong interest in our program.

  • Signals help us select candidates to invite for interviews. We know that there are a limited number of signals, and how valuable they are; therefore, we will review all gold signals during our first round, before moving on to silver signals, and, if needed, those that did not signal.
  • We receive more signals than available interview spots; sending a signal does not guarantee an invitation.
  • Once interviews are scheduled, all signal-related information is removed from applications.
  • All interviews are conducted blind to signaling status to ensure an unbiased and fair evaluation process.

Our review will focus on signaled applicants, and we appreciate your thoughtful consideration in using this mechanism to express genuine interest in our program.
