Applying to our program
As per the recommendations of the AAMC and APPD, we will be conducting all interviews virtually for the 2026-2027 interview season. We are confident you will be able to get to know us, and we will get to know you throughout this process!
Interview season for the Advocate Children's Hospital-Park Ridge Residency program begins mid-October and ends mid-January. We have crafted our virtual interview day with the goal of supporting medical students working on clinical rotations, allowing for interviewees from all time zones, and providing ample time for you to get to know our program.
We evaluate all applications based on merit, regardless of the applicant's race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, disability or any other legally protected group status. We conduct a holistic review of all applications to search for the best fit for our program's mission, vision and values.
For international medical graduates, we do not require US clinical experience; however, knowledge of the US healthcare system is helpful. We only sponsor J-1 Visas. Applicants must be eligible for ECFMG Certification prior to their start date.
All applications must be received through ERAS and must include the following:
- Complete ERAS application
- USMLE Step 1 OR COMLEX Level 1 Score with application (Step 2/Level 2 must be received by February 5th to be considered)
- Personal Statement
- Dean’s Letter (MSPE)
- Three (3) letters of recommendation (Chair’s letter is NOT required)
Interview offers will be extended via email using Thalamus after 4pm CST to respect clinical rotations. We do NOT extend more interview offers than we have spots available.
Interviews are held on Mondays and Tuesdays and some Fridays. We will host a virtual get together with the residents the night before each interview from 6:30-7:30pm CST.
