How long do you stay at a birthing center after giving birth?
The length of your stay at our birthing center varies based on your delivery type. For vaginal births, expect to stay 24-48 hours, while C-sections generally require 48-72 hours. If there are any medical complications, you might need to stay longer.

Before delivery: We offer prenatal breastfeeding classes to help you prepare. Register online today.
During your stay: Our international board-certified lactation consultants are available to meet with you to help you get started or to answer any questions you may have. They can also address any complex issues that may arise.
After birth: Lactation outpatient visits are available to you after you leave the hospital following your delivery. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 847-723-6455.

Lutheran General Hospital ensures at-risk expectant mothers and their infants are given exceptional support starting from conception through delivery and beyond.
