Mission

Advocate Christ Medical Center aims to train, develop, and inspire confident, knowledgeable, and skilled physicians in a community-based academic hospital on the south side of Chicago. We provide rigorous education that cultivates capable and inquisitive lifelong learners dedicated to delivering outstanding and compassionate obstetrical and gynecologic care to their communities.

About us

Advocate Christ Medical Center is a 900-bed teaching hospital and a major Level I Trauma Center and Level III NICU located on the southwest side of metropolitan Chicago. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology serves patients from both urban and suburban communities, including many individuals who face healthcare access and socioeconomic challenges. We also provide care to patients with a broad range of cultural, linguistic, and healthcare needs, including local and migrant populations seeking both acute and longitudinal care. Advocate Christ Medical Center offers comprehensive inpatient and ambulatory services in obstetrics, high-risk obstetrics, gynecology, gynecologic oncology, critical care, and emergency care.

Advocate Christ Medical Center is home to numerous residency and fellowship programs. As a result, our Graduate Medical Education office is well equipped to support trainees across multiple specialties and levels of training through robust administrative, financial, wellness, mentorship, safety, and research resources. As part of the larger Advocate Health system, educational oversight is provided at the institutional level, ensuring that all training programs meet national standards for graduate medical education.

We have long served as a site for Obstetrics and Gynecology residency and medical student education and are excited to continue that legacy through our own residency program. Given our extensive history of clinical education, our faculty are deeply committed to excellence in residency training and the development of highly skilled and dedicated physicians. Our department includes faculty from both private practice and hospital-based groups, representing a variety of professional backgrounds and training experiences. Their longstanding commitment to clinical teaching enriches the educational experience and exposes residents to multiple approaches to women's healthcare delivery.

Our program offers a unique training environment that combines the strengths of a community-based hospital with the complexity, acuity, and volume typically associated with larger academic medical centers. Residents benefit from extensive hands-on experience in both general and subspecialty Obstetrics and Gynecology, preparing them for successful careers in any practice setting.
